Nasarawa State Celebrates 30th Anniversary with Events

The Nasarawa State Government has unveiled a week-long program of activities to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the state's creation, which occurred on October 1, 1996. Dr. Emmanuel Akabe, the state deputy governor and chairman of the Central Planning Committee, announced the celebrations during a press conference in Lafia.

He emphasized that the anniversary is an opportunity for citizens to reflect on the state's progress and renew their commitment to unity and prosperity. The celebration will honor individuals and institutions that have contributed to the state's development.

Activities will commence on September 25 with a special Jumma’at Mosque service in Lafia, followed by the commissioning of selected projects on September 26 and an inter-denominational church service at St. Williams Cathedral on September 27. Notable speakers include Prof. Attahiru Jega and Bishop Matthew Hassan Kukah.

The week will culminate on October 1 with Nigeria's Independence Day and the anniversary address by Governor Abdullahi Sule.
