Nasarawa University to Honor BUA Chair and Tanzanian President

Nasarawa State University in Keffi, Nasarawa State, will confer honorary doctorates on Abdul Samad Rabiu, the founder and chairman of BUA Group, and Samia Suluhu Hassan, the President of Tanzania, during its 8th combined convocation ceremony scheduled for April 11, 2026. This announcement was made by the Vice Chancellor, Prof.

Sa Adatu Liman, at a press conference held in Keffi. The honorary degrees will be awarded in accordance with the National Universities Commission's regulations, which allow for three honorary degrees to be conferred.

Alongside Rabiu and Hassan, Dr. Mahmood Ahmad will also receive an honorary doctorate.

The convocation will see approximately 25,000 graduates from the 2022/2023, 2023/2024, and 2024/2025 academic sessions in attendance, with 82 students achieving first-class degrees. The ceremony will also mark the university's 25th anniversary, featuring various activities, including a church service, special prayers, medical outreach, and a football match between the university's team and Bingham University's team.
