NASFAT Urges Media to Combat Biases Against Islam

During the 2026 Ramadan Iftar event held in Lagos, NASFAT urged media and movie practitioners to correct biases against Islam. The event featured notable attendees including Nollywood actors and filmmakers such as Alhaji Kazeem Adeoti, Adebayo Tijani, Afeez Owo, Lateef Adedimeji, Muyideen Oladapo, and Lala Fatiha Balogun.

Hon. Abubakar Ogunlend, the Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, and Alhaji Gboyega Akosil, a media executive, also addressed the gathering.

NASFAT leaders, including Alhaji Ayodeji Abdulrauf, highlighted the media's role as a powerful tool in shaping public perception and stressed the need for balanced and verified storytelling, especially regarding religious matters. They warned against sensational reporting that could deepen misunderstandings and harm social cohesion.

Imam Abdulganiyu Raji reiterated the importance of positive media portrayals of Islam, particularly in the digital age, where misinformation can spread rapidly.
