National Assembly Advances Nigeria's Cybersecurity Efforts

The National Assembly of Nigeria is taking significant steps to protect the nation's cyberspace as Senators and Representatives engage in a digital summit at Zuma Resort. This three-day retreat, sponsored by Meta, focuses on building a future-ready legislative framework for digital innovation and safety to promote economic growth.

The Chairman of the Senate Committee on ICT and Cybersecurity, Shuaib Afolabi Salisu, emphasized the need for federal lawmakers to become digitally literate to effectively address issues in the Nigerian cyberspace. The retreat aims to upgrade the knowledge and skills of committee members regarding various digital applications and to ensure that cyberspace is not left vulnerable to misuse, similar to physical spaces that have been exploited for criminal activities.

Adedeji Stanlei Olajide, Chairman of the House Committee on ICT and Cybersecurity, also remarked on the importance of this initiative in keeping pace with rapid technological advancements.
