Atiku's Aide Calls for Tinubu's Impeachment Over Vacation

Paul Ibe, the media aide to Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress, has urged the National Assembly to initiate impeachment proceedings against President Bola Tinubu. Ibe claims that Tinubu violated the Constitution by extending his working vacation in Europe without properly informing the National Assembly.

Tinubu had traveled to London for annual leave and subsequently moved to Paris, where he met with French President Emmanuel Macron. Ibe questioned whether Tinubu transmitted a written declaration to the President of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, as required by Section 151 of the Constitution when the president is on vacation or unable to perform his duties.

He emphasized that citizens deserve to know if such a letter was sent, noting that Tinubu's absence has exceeded 21 days, with the current day being the 23rd.
