Atiku's Aide Challenges Tinubu Over Extended Vacation

Paul Ibe, the media adviser to former Vice President and African Democratic Congress presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar, criticized President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his extended vacation in France, which began on August 30 and was initially set for three weeks. The Presidency announced on September 21 that Tinubu's vacation would be extended, with a return expected over the weekend.

Ibe raised concerns about the implications of this prolonged absence, particularly in light of ongoing security, economic, and cost-of-living issues in Nigeria. He referenced Section 145(1) of the Constitution, which mandates that a President on vacation must inform the National Assembly, allowing the Vice-President to assume presidential duties.

Ibe noted that Tinubu had been away for 28 days, exceeding the original period, and questioned the absence of the required notification. He also mentioned speculation regarding Tinubu's health and called for transparency regarding the President's extended stay abroad.
