Presidency Criticizes ADC for Illegal Congress Actions

The Nigerian Presidency, represented by special adviser Bayo Onanuga, condemned the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for its decision to proceed with a national congress despite being deregistered by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). Onanuga accused the ADC of engaging in illegal activities and warned that their continued disregard for legal processes would have consequences.

He specifically referenced the ADC's spokesman, Bolaji Abdullahi, who notified party members about the congress, which Onanuga characterized as an illegitimate action. The ADC's insistence on holding the congress, despite INEC's declaration, was described as a continuation of lawlessness.

Onanuga's remarks highlighted the seriousness of the situation, suggesting that the ADC's actions would be ignored by the authorities, likening the party's stance to a "dog wanting to lose its forest while ignoring the hunter's whistle.".
