National Single Window to Boost Nigeria's Trade Revenue

C.K. Niagwan, Deputy Controller General of the Nigerian Customs Service, addressed the Senate Committee on Finance regarding the 2025/26 budget defense in Abuja.

She highlighted the National Single Window initiative as a transformative measure for revenue generation and accountability. The initiative is designed to streamline trade processes by eliminating bureaucratic hurdles and reducing corruption.

Niagwan explained that the National Single Window will harmonize and digitize financial transactions across government agencies involved in trade, integrating revenue generation seamlessly into the Nigerian system. This platform is expected to usher in a new era of transparency and operational efficiency, significantly reducing redundant accounting records.

Niagwan expressed confidence that the initiative would mitigate overlapping functions among agencies and enhance accountability, making it an objective sector. The initiative has garnered support from stakeholders, including the Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents, who consider it long overdue for improving the accuracy of government accounts.
