Nigerian Navy Invites Oba of Lagos for 70th Anniversary

Commodore Adam Aliu, representing the Nigerian Navy, visited the Oba of Lagos to formally invite him to participate in the upcoming 70th anniversary celebrations of the Nigerian Navy, set to take place from May 29 to June 4, 2026. During the visit, Commodore Aliu described the anniversary as a significant milestone in the history of the Nigerian Navy, reflecting seven decades of dedication to maritime security, national defense, and regional stability.

He stressed the importance of strengthening collaboration with traditional institutions, particularly within coastal communities, as maritime activities significantly contribute to economic growth and security. The Oba of Lagos, Oba Akiolu, commended the Nigerian Navy for its unwavering commitment to safeguarding Nigeria's maritime environment and ensuring safety along the nation's waterways.

He reaffirmed his support for the Navy's initiatives aimed at enhancing maritime security and promoting peace and stability within coastal communities across the Gulf of Guinea region. The anniversary celebrations will include various activities, such as a ceremonial parade, an international fleet review, and community outreach programs.
