NBA Condemns Kano Police for Ignoring Court Order

The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), through its Kano branch, condemned the Kano State Police Command for allegedly refusing to comply with a court order regarding the release of lawyer Ahmad Tijjani Miko. NBA Chairman Usman Umar Fari made this statement in a release on Thursday, highlighting that the Kano State High Court had ordered the immediate release of Miko's case file against the Commissioner of Police and three others.

Fari stated that Miko had been held by the police for seven consecutive days without being taken to court, which he described as a serious violation of the legal practitioner's fundamental human rights and a direct assault on the judiciary. He emphasized that such actions by the police threaten the rule of law and invite anarchy.

The NBA called for the immediate and unconditional release of the detained lawyer in line with the court's ruling.
