NBA Condemns Heartbreaking Killings in Plateau State

The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) issued a statement on Tuesday, condemning the recent killings in Plateau State, which occurred on Palm Sunday, March 29, 2026. NBA President Afam Osigwe described the violence as heartbreaking and unacceptable, highlighting the tragic nature of the incident, especially as it coincided with a significant Christian observance marking the beginning of Holy Week.

The violence resulted in several deaths and injuries, exacerbating the insecurity faced by citizens across Nigeria. The NBA warned that repeated killings without accountability foster a culture of impunity, eroding public confidence in the state's ability to protect lives.

They called for security agencies to swiftly identify, apprehend, and prosecute those responsible for the attacks. Additionally, they urged federal and state governments to strengthen security in vulnerable communities.

In response to the violence, Governor Caleb Mutfwang imposed a 48-hour curfew in Jos North, effective from midnight March 29 until April 1, 2026, assuring residents that investigations were underway to apprehend the culprits.
