NCAA Announces New Rule on Phone Use in Flights, Air Peace, Max Air, Others To Enforce

The NCAA has announced a new rule regarding phone use on flights, directing airlines like Air Peace and Max Air to enforce the regulation. Passengers are now required to switch off their mobile phones and electronic devices upon landing, suspending the previous allowance of using airplane mode.

The Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection at the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority, Michael Achimugu, stated that the change aims to tighten flight safety regulations in light of evolving technology. This announcement comes after an incident on an Ibom Air flight on August 10, where a viral video showed a passenger being dragged by airline staff.

The NCAA is also reviewing protocols for restraining and prosecuting offenders, with the Airline Operators of Nigeria warning of sanctions for unruly behavior at airports. Travelers are urged to be cautious as wrong behavior could have legal implications.
