NCAA Grounds Aircraft for Unauthorized Departure in Asaba

The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) suspended the operating permit of a private aircraft that departed from a site near Asaba without the necessary regulatory approval. The incident occurred around 7:43 AM local time when the aircraft attempted to land at Asaba Airport but executed a missed approach and subsequently landed on a concrete road in the Ogwashi Uku area.

Fortunately, all four crew members aboard the aircraft exited safely, and no injuries were reported. The aircraft left the site around 11:02 GMT and returned to Lagos without obtaining the required regulatory clearance.

NCAA stated that air traffic control had not permitted the aircraft to take off. The NCAA grounded the aircraft upon its arrival in Lagos pending an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the landing and subsequent departure.

The NCAA is collaborating with the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency to ascertain complete details of the incident and will review the aircraft's operational and maintenance records as part of its statutory duties.
