NCC Report Reveals Disparities in 5G Network Quality Across Nigeria

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) released its Q4 2025 industry performance report, highlighting the persistent divide in network quality between rural and urban areas despite improvements in 5G coverage. The report showed a reduction in the 5G coverage gap in Lagos and Abuja, with disparities in network quality, particularly in terms of download and upload speeds between urban and rural areas.

Additionally, the report indicated that 50% of Nigerian subscribers with 5G devices do not have access to 5G services, emphasizing the need to bridge the coverage gap. The analysis also pointed out varying performance levels among telecom operators like MTN, Airtel, and Globacom, with challenges in latency and jitter affecting user experiences.

The report underscored the importance of enhancing network infrastructure, especially in rural areas, to improve overall service quality nationwide.
