NCC, Governors Forge Partnership to Boost Nigeria’s Digital Economy

The Nigeria Communication Commission (NCC) and the Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF) have joined forces to enhance the country's digital economy. The NCC's CEO, Aminu Maida, praised the governors for their willingness to collaborate in advancing digital solutions at the subnational level.

Maida highlighted the importance of aligning national and subnational digital infrastructure to propel Nigeria's digital economy forward. The focus is on addressing the Right of Way (RoW) fee, currently at N145 per linear meter, which is seen as a burden for telecom companies.

The NGF's Director General, Abdulateef Shittu, emphasized the necessity of broadband and secure information infrastructure for state development. The partnership aims to harmonize policies, reduce RoW fees, and increase fibre optic deployment to boost connectivity, productivity, job creation, and access to essential services.

The collaboration between NCC and NGF signals a transformative push to bridge Nigeria's digital divide and drive measurable progress in the nation's digital.
