NCC Expands Broadband Access in Plateau State

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), represented by Emma Okonji, has reaffirmed its commitment to expanding broadband access to underserved communities in Plateau State. During a visit with Governor Caleb Mutfwang, the NCC emphasized Plateau State's strategic role in advancing Nigeria's broadband agenda, citing its strong educational base and innovative ecosystem.

Governor Mutfwang acknowledged the need for effective policies to support digital transformation and highlighted the ongoing challenges faced by rural local government areas that remain underserved. The NCC aims to leverage its Universal Service Provision Fund (USPF) to enhance connectivity across these areas.

The discussions also included the importance of aligning broadband expansion with the state’s development agenda and the potential for artificial intelligence initiatives. The visit underscored the NCC's genuine desire to explore its mandate in collaboration with the state government to bridge the digital divide and enhance opportunities for education and enterprise.
