NCC Commits to Expanding Broadband in Plateau State

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), represented by Ms. Rimini Makama, reaffirmed its commitment to expanding broadband access in underserved communities during a visit to Plateau State on Monday.

Governor Barrister Caleb Mutfwang highlighted Plateau State as a strategic partner in advancing Nigeria's broadband agenda, citing its strong educational base and innovative ecosystem. The NCC identified Plateau as a pivotal partner, emphasizing the need for right policies to support digital transformation.

Governor Mutfwang announced plans for a business process outsourcing initiative aimed at creating jobs for at least 500 young people. The discussions included ongoing reforms and the establishment of an innovation hub at Plateau State Polytechnic, with a focus on artificial intelligence and broadband deployment.

The NCC expressed readiness to fulfill its part in reaching underserved communities through universal service provision funds, while the governor emphasized the importance of implementing high-impact policies in emerging areas.
