NCC Urges Students to Safeguard Telecoms Infrastructure

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), represented by its Executive Vice Chairman, Dr. Aminu Maida, called on Nigerian students to actively protect telecommunications infrastructure across the country.

This appeal was made during a courtesy visit to the newly elected leadership of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) in Abuja. Dr.

Maida highlighted the importance of telecommunications facilities as vital national assets that support educational innovation and economic growth. He noted the longstanding relationship between NCC and NANS, encouraging students to engage in public consultations and ensure their interests are represented in policy development.

Dr. Maida identified challenges such as vandalism, theft of fiber optic cables, and destruction of infrastructure as significant issues affecting service delivery.

He urged students to support ongoing awareness efforts to safeguard telecommunications facilities located within and outside educational institutions, emphasizing their crucial role in Nigeria's digital economy.
