NCEWER Trains Katsina Women on Conflict Detection Skills

The National Conflict Early Warning and Early Response (NCEWER) project conducted a two-day training in Katsina State, Nigeria, where no fewer than 50 women and persons living with disabilities (PLWDs) were trained to detect and report early signs of conflict. The training commenced on a Thursday and was supported by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), implemented by the Institute for Peace and Conflict Resolution and the Conflict Research Network West Africa.

Dr. Mang Chaimang, the technical lead, emphasized the importance of empowering participants with knowledge and practical skills to recognize early warning signs of conflict and respond appropriately.

The initiative aims to strengthen community-based approaches to conflict prevention and management, particularly in areas with higher incidences of conflict, such as the Funtua Senatorial Zone in Katsina State. The training is designed to enhance grassroots conflict prevention mechanisms, ensuring that participants can effectively communicate and act when they observe potential conflict indicators.
