OK Movement Declares Independence from NDC Leadership

The crisis within the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has intensified as the Obi-Kwankwaso Movement, known as the OK Movement, has rejected the NDC's attempts to exert control over its organizational structure. Hon John Ozyl Ughulu, the National Director-General of the OK Movement, emphasized that it remains an independent political organization and will not merge with or be subsumed under the NDC.

This statement comes amid disagreements regarding the relationship between the NDC and support organizations backing its presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and vice-presidential candidate, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso. Ughulu acknowledged NDC National Leader Senator Henry Seriake Dickson's comments that support groups should not compete with the party but clarified that the OK Movement is not merely a support group.

He asserted that the movement has established its own structures and will continue to campaign for NDC candidates while maintaining its independence.
