OK Movement Declares Independence Amid NDC Tensions

The OK Movement, under the leadership of Hon. John Ozyl Ughulu, has publicly rejected Senator Seriake Dickson's characterization of the organization as merely a support group for the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC). In a statement released on Wednesday, Ughulu insisted that the OK Movement is an independent political organization with its own structures and internal administration.

This response came after Dickson criticized the movement during a reception for Babachir Lawal, warning that support groups should not compete with the political parties they support. The controversy intensified following the OK Movement's formation of a 59-member Presidential Campaign Council to support NDC's presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and his running mate, Rabiu Kwankwaso.

The NDC distanced itself from this council, stating it was not officially sanctioned. Ughulu clarified that while he agrees with Dickson regarding the Obidient Movement being a support group, he emphasized the need to clearly define the identity and status of the OK Movement as an independent entity.
