NDC Denies Zoning Presidential Ticket to South for 2027

The Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) has officially denied claims that it is zoning its presidential ticket to the South or has made any pact with former President Goodluck Jonathan ahead of the 2027 presidential elections. Abdulmumin Abdulsalam, the Deputy National Spokesman for the NDC, stated in Abuja that the party has not made any final decisions regarding its presidential ticket and is still in the consultation phase.

Abdulsalam emphasized that the NDC is attracting interest from several high-profile political figures across party lines, including former governors, ex-ministers, and former lawmakers, who are making moves toward the party in anticipation of the upcoming elections. He described the claims regarding Jonathan as mere speculation and confirmed that there are no existing arrangements with him.

Abdulsalam reiterated that Jonathan remains constitutionally qualified to contest for office if he chooses to do so.
