NDC Addresses Speculation on Jonathan's 2027 Bid

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has responded to rumors about a pact with former President Goodluck Jonathan concerning the 2027 presidential election. Abdulmumin Abdulsalam, the Deputy National Spokesman of the NDC, described the reports as mere speculation, clarifying that the party is currently engaged in broad consultations across various political interests without any conclusive decisions made regarding the presidential ticket.

Abdulsalam emphasized that discussions are ongoing and that the party is witnessing increased interest from prominent politicians, including former governors and lawmakers, who are aligning with the NDC ahead of the elections. He dismissed claims of Jonathan's involvement in any formal arrangements within the party, asserting that no official discussions have taken place.

Abdulsalam acknowledged that Jonathan remains eligible to contest for the presidency and that any Nigerian qualified under the constitution has the right to seek election on their chosen political platform.
