NDC Disowns 10 Candidates Listed by INEC for 2027 Elections

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has publicly disowned 10 candidates listed by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the upcoming 2027 Anambra State House of Assembly elections. The NDC asserts that it neither nominated these individuals nor submitted their Form EC9E documents.

The party's Director of New Media and Strategic Communications, Theophilus Agada, stated that the names published by INEC did not emerge from the party's nomination or appeal processes. The candidates in question include Umennaajiego Ezenwa, Akpotue Chibuike, Nwankwo Chiemerie, Maduagwu Eric K., Ngoebisi Obinna, Isintume Charles, Nwachukwu Nonso, Okeke Akunne, Nnonyelu Samson E., and Azotani Francis.

The NDC has called for an immediate electronic audit of INEC’s nomination portal to clarify how these names and credentials were included. The party has previously threatened legal action against INEC for allegedly replacing its nominated candidates with unauthorized names, which it claims is part of a broader strategy to create confusion within opposition parties ahead of the elections.
