Henry Shield Questions NDC's Support for Peter Obi's Candidacy
Political analyst Henry Shield has raised concerns regarding the Nigeria Democratic Congress's (NDC) commitment to Peter Obi, its presidential candidate. During an appearance on AIT’s Political Platform, Shield stated that Obi's choice to join the NDC could be a strategic error.
He criticized the NDC, led by National Leader Seriake Dickson, for not actively promoting Obi as their candidate, unlike other political parties that are already marketing their candidates ahead of the election. Shield expressed distrust in Dickson's support for Obi, citing past statements where Dickson claimed he was as qualified to run for president as Obi.
He noted that recent NDC press statements have focused more on internal party issues rather than promoting Obi. Shield concluded that Obi's decision to align with the NDC was a significant misstep, especially with only three months remaining until the election.
