NDC Condemns Attack on Peter Obi's Convoy in Benue

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) condemned the alleged attack on its presidential candidate, Peter Obi, during his visit to Benue State. According to a statement from the NDC's National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director, Obi's convoy was blocked by suspected thugs led by an aide to the Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia.

These individuals were reportedly armed with dangerous weapons and prevented Obi from accessing Yelwata community, where more than 270 people had been killed. Obi stated that he arrived in Benue at about 9 a.m. with the intention of mourning with victims' families but was obstructed by thugs chanting, "Peter Obi, go back." The NDC expressed its concern over the incident, emphasizing that the visit was meant to offer solidarity and listen to victims.

The party called for an investigation by the Benue State Government and security agencies to ensure justice and safety for citizens and leaders seeking to show solidarity.
