NDC and Omo-Agege Condemn Egbetamah's Seat Vacancy

The Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) and Senator Ovi Omo-Agege condemned the Delta State House of Assembly's (DSHA) declaration of Collin Egbetamah's seat as the representative of Udu State Constituency vacant. This decision followed Egbetamah's defection from the party, which the NDC described as unconstitutional and unjustly politically motivated.

The NDC's statement, signed by McCollin Nwose, accused the assembly of applying double standards, noting that other politicians who defected from the People's Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) retained their seats without similar sanctions. The NDC called on civil society organizations and democracy advocates in Delta State to reject this decision, which they deemed a threat to democratic principles.

Senator Omo-Agege also condemned the assembly's actions as hasty, arbitrary, and oppressive, arguing that Egbetamah was removed without a fair hearing, violating constitutional provisions. He emphasized that the legislative mandate cannot end without due process, warning against actions that undermine the will of the electorate.
