NDC Primary Dispute: Group Calls for Review in Lagos

Youths in Politics NG has called for a review of the nomination process for the Lagos State House of Assembly, Eti-Osa Constituency I, after a complaint from aspirant John Akano. Akano alleged that he completed the nomination process, including purchasing the required forms and mobilizing supporters, but after the primary was cancelled or not concluded, another individual was proposed as the party's candidate without participating in the process.

The organization stated that it found sufficient grounds for a transparent review of the situation and emphasized that its intervention was not an endorsement of Akano or opposition to other aspirants. They urged the Nigeria Democratic Congress to communicate the legal basis for any alternative selection method and to ensure all eligible aspirants have equal opportunities in any fresh nomination process.

The group warned that excluding young aspirants could discourage youth participation in politics and called for a transparent mechanism to resolve disputes over the primary outcome.
