NDC Delays 2027 Campaign Council Inauguration to October 26
The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) announced on October 19, 2026, that it has shifted the unveiling and inauguration of its 2027 Presidential Campaign Council from October 20 to October 26, 2026. This change was communicated by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director, who stated that the adjustment was necessary due to the tight schedule of the party's presidential candidate, Peter Obi, who has an important engagement abroad.
The NDC expressed apologies for any inconvenience caused by the new date and encouraged members and supporters to remain focused on securing victory for Obi and other NDC candidates in the upcoming elections. The postponement follows a press conference held by the party’s National Chairman, Senator Moses Cleopas, on October 10, where he explained the delay in constituting the council due to consultations with Obi and vice-presidential candidate Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso regarding key appointments.
Cleopas emphasized the importance of selecting loyal campaign officials to avoid jeopardizing the party's prospects.
