NDC Urges INEC to Reject Egbetanah's Seat Vacancy Declaration

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to disregard the Delta State House of Assembly's declaration that Collin Egbetanah's seat is vacant. The NDC described this action as unconstitutional, asserting that it violates Egbetanah's rights to freedom of association.

The statement, signed by Osa, the Director of the party's national public secretariat, alleges that Egbetanah, who represents the Udu constituency, has faced unfair treatment following his departure from the All Progressives Congress (APC). The NDC claims that Egbetanah has been denied his salary for several months due to political differences.

Egbetanah resigned from the APC on April 30, 2026, to join the NDC. The party insists that the Delta State House Assembly should allow Egbetanah to continue his legislative responsibilities while the matter is resolved and maintains that the constituents of Udu deserve effective representation.
