NDLEA Arrests 132 Suspects in Major Drug Bust in Abuja

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) conducted a significant operation from April 11 to 25, 2026, resulting in the arrest of 132 suspects and the recovery of 220 kilograms of illicit substances. According to Femi Babafemi, the agency's Director of Media and Advocacy, the raids targeted major drug hotspots in Abuja, including areas such as Torabora Hill, Area 3, Gwarinpa, Durumi, Banex, Dei Dei, Kubwa, Apo, Kwali, Gwagwalada, Wuse Zone 4, Garki Area 10, Jabi, and Suleja.

The operation, which was coordinated based on intelligence gathered over the week, aimed to dismantle illicit drug hubs contributing to substance abuse and trafficking-related criminal activities. The NDLEA recovered various drugs, including 214.79 kilograms of skunk strain cannabis, 5.524 kilograms of diazepam, and 84.3 grams of cocaine, among others.

The operation faced stiff resistance, particularly in the Durumi area, but the superior strength and professionalism of NDLEA officers allowed them to successfully disrupt the distribution network without any recorded casualties.
