NDLEA Seizes 125 Bags of Cannabis in Edo, Arrests Suspect

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Edo State Command seized 125 bags of cannabis, weighing a total of 1,378 kg, during a raid in Igbank Community, Orhionmwon Local Government Area. The operation, led by Mitchel Ofoyeju, resulted in the arrest of a 37-year-old suspect named Roland Owi.

Ofoyeju emphasized that this significant operation is part of the ongoing war against substance abuse and the illicit drug trade, aiming to disrupt drug supply networks and protect communities from the harms of addiction. The NDLEA's efforts are crucial in intercepting large quantities of drugs, which helps to prevent them from reaching schools and young people.

The agency reported that in the first quarter of the year, they recovered 18,380 kg of drugs and arrested 104 suspects, including 71 males and 33 females. The total value of the seized drugs in the first three months was estimated at N1.8 billion.
