NDLEA Arrests 48 Drug Traffickers in Edo State

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Edo State Command announced the arrest of 48 drug traffickers in May, comprising 25 males and 22 females. The command reported a seizure of 541.47 kilograms of narcotic drugs, including 540.6253 kg of cannabis sativa and smaller quantities of psychotropic substances such as tramadol, diazepam, and methamphetamine.

Significant arrests included individuals found with large quantities of cannabis and other drugs during intelligence-led operations in various hotspots across the state. The command's legal unit recorded three convictions and filed five new cases, with 94 cases pending in the Federal High Court in Benin City.

The NDLEA emphasized its ongoing commitment to eradicating drug trafficking in Edo State, urging public cooperation in reporting drug-related activities.
