NDLEA Seizes Cocaine and Cannabis in Major Drug Busts

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) reported significant successes in drug interception operations across Nigeria. On April 9, 2026, at Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos, NDLEA officials seized 2.80 kg of cocaine concealed in food flasks, which was bound for the United Kingdom via a Virgin Atlantic flight.

Two cargo agents, Ama Obinna Ufeim (33) and Ogabi Mondai (39), were arrested in connection with this shipment, leading to the apprehension of a 52-year-old freight forwarder, Agoro Tajudeen Moninuola. Additionally, on April 8, 2026, 2.90 kg of a potent cannabis strain known as "Loud" was intercepted in snack packs arriving on a Delta Airlines flight, resulting in the arrest of Sahe Adeshina Adegok (29).

NDLEA operations also targeted cannabis cultivation, with a raid in Cross River State destroying 15,000 kg of cannabis plants and leading to the arrest of Alic Sundai Udoh (53). Similar operations in Edo State resulted in the destruction of over 2,281 kg of cannabis and the arrest of three suspects.
