Lagos Businessman Arrested for Cocaine Export Attempt

On July 23, 2026, operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) arrested 55-year-old Onuigbo Ndubisi Chinedu, a clothing trader at Balogun Market, Lagos, for allegedly attempting to export 3.30kg of cocaine concealed in the walls of cartons meant for foodstuffs to the United Kingdom. Chinedu was apprehended after NDLEA officers intercepted the cocaine shipment at the export shed of Murtala Muhammed International Airport on July 22, 2026.

Initially, three cargo agents—Nkwor Onyekachukwu Justina, Adeleke Abiola Taoheed, and Ukanwa Grace Pilgrim—were arrested for handling the consignment. Further investigation led to the arrest of Kenneth Okakpu, who delivered the shipment to the cargo agents, ultimately identifying Chinedu as the kingpin behind the operation.

Chinedu was caught while attempting to send another cocaine consignment to the UK.
