Edo Students Win Scholarships as WADA Ambassadors
Three secondary school students from Edo State were awarded one-year full academic scholarships and designated as War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) Student Ambassadors after winning the inaugural Okpebholo-Marwa Mini Marathon Against Drug Abuse. The event, organized by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Edo State Command in collaboration with the Edo State Drug Control Committee (ESDCC), took place in Benin City, featuring over 100 participants from four public secondary schools.
Ojie Victor from Edopkolor Grammar School won the marathon, with Osamende Bright and Chambaivi Miracle finishing second and third, respectively. As part of his reward, Victor will also receive free registration for the Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSCE).
Edo State Deputy Governor Dennis Idahosa, represented by Deputy Chief of Staff Pius Alile, praised the initiative as an investment in youth development. NDLEA Edo State Commander Mitchell Ofoyeju described the marathon as historic, aimed at engaging youth positively while combating drug abuse.
The event is set to become an annual occurrence.
