NDLEA Arrests South African Woman for Heroin Trafficking

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) arrested a South African woman, Talli, on July 6, 2023, at Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos, while she was traveling on Qatar Airways flight QR 1433 from Doha to Abuja. She initially denied ownership of two bags that were found to contain heroin but later admitted to them, claiming she forgot to check them.

Intelligence indicated that she is part of a transnational drug trafficking organization with her husband, Jan Coenraad de Jager, based in Cambodia. In a separate incident, on July 1, 2023, NDLEA officers arrested Onyecher Daniel Chinadu, a 48-year-old okada rider, who arrived in Lagos from Madagascar via Ethiopian Airways.

A search revealed 87 wraps of methamphetamine concealed in his backpack, and he later excreted 13 additional pellets, totaling 100 wraps with a gross weight of 1.715 kilograms.
