NDLEA Educates Army Personnel on Drug Abuse Prevention

On September 10, 2026, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) held a sensitization lecture on drug abuse for army personnel at the 2 Division Headquarters Auditorium, Adekunle Fajuyi Cantonment, Ibadan. The event was reported by Lieutenant Colonel Danjuma Jonah Danjuma, Acting Deputy Director of 2 Division Army Public Relations.

Major General Auwalu Mahmuda, the General Officer Commanding 2 Division, represented by Brigadier General Danlami Ali, urged personnel to focus on the lecture and apply the knowledge gained. He warned against prohibited substances and self-medication, advising those with health issues to seek medical help.

Assistant Controller of Narcotics Mercy Titilayo Godwin delivered the lecture, defining drug abuse and its national security implications. She identified commonly misused substances and discussed factors contributing to drug misuse, recommending measures such as random drug testing and professional counseling.

The session concluded with an interactive Q&A segment addressing drug abuse prevention and related challenges.
