NDLEA Seizes 2.3 Tonnes of Illicit Drugs Across Nigeria

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) intercepted over 2.3 tonnes of assorted illicit drugs in operations across Lagos, Ondo, Edo, Delta, Kaduna, Plateau, Bayelsa, and Kano states. The seizures included shipments of Colorado, concealed in cargoes from the UK, cannabis hidden in music speakers, and various opioids.

Femi Babafemi, Director of Media and Advocacy for NDLEA, reported that a real estate agent, Abideen Jide Salami, was arrested on September 9, 2026, while attempting to collect a large luggage of Colorado. Another suspect, Nurudeen Abiodun Kadiri, 44, was apprehended as the recipient of a separate shipment containing 12.25kg of Colorado.

Additionally, operatives intercepted a music speaker containing Colorado at a motor park in Lagos, leading to the arrest of Ifeanyi Obed Augustine and Obasi Ugochuckwu. Another suspect, Ifeanyi Nwokolo Henry, was arrested while trying to dispatch 2.1kg of Colorado to Kano.

Operations in Delta State also recovered various pharmaceutical drugs.
