NDLEA Intercepts Opioids in Bread, Arrests Multiple Suspects

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) intercepted significant quantities of synthetic cannabis, known as Colorado, and other illicit drugs concealed in various cargoes, including loaves of bread and music speakers, across several states. On Sunday, NDLEA spokesman Femi Babafemi reported the interception of two consignments of Colorado from the UK at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Ikeja, Lagos.

Real estate agent Abideen Jide Salami was arrested on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, while attempting to collect a large luggage containing 32.20kg of Colorado using a secret code from his brother in the UK. A follow-up operation led to the arrest of Nurudeen Abiodun Kadiri, 44, who was to receive another consignment of 12.25kg of Colorado.

Additional operations in Lagos resulted in the arrest of Ifeanyi Augustine and Obasi Ugochuckwu, linked to a music speaker containing Colorado, and Ifeanyi Nwokolo Henry, who attempted to dispatch 2.1kg of Colorado to Kano. Significant drug seizures were also reported in Delta State.
