NDLEA’s Sustained Drug War in Edo

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Edo State, under the leadership of Commander Mitchell Ofoyeju, has been engaged in a relentless fight against illicit drug trafficking and abuse. Edo State is identified as a major cannabis cultivating state in Nigeria, with a 15% drug prevalence rate among individuals aged 15-64.

The NDLEA, led by Brigadier General Mohamed Buba Marwa, has tasked the Edo State commander with reducing the drug menace through zero tolerance for drug trafficking. Ofoyeju's approach includes strict enforcement policies, community engagement, and partnerships with stakeholders.

The agency has achieved significant success in drug seizures, with a focus on dismantling drug trafficking cartels. Ofoyeju's efforts have been recognized with awards for outstanding leadership and commitment to combating drug trafficking and abuse.

The campaign has garnered support from various quarters, including the Northern Youth Association of Nigeria, highlighting the importance of a synergistic approach in combating drug-related crimes effectively.
