Ndume Commends Tinubu for N68bn Maiduguri Power Support

Senator Ali Ndume, representing Borno South, praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the approval of N68 billion in operational support for the Maiduguri emergency power plant. This intervention, disclosed in a statement issued in Abuja on Tuesday, is designed to address the prolonged blackouts in Borno, which have persisted for nearly two years due to the destruction of power infrastructure by insurgents.

The newly approved funds will be disbursed in phases as monthly operational expenditures, supporting the power plant until December 2028, with a total intervention amounting to N68 billion. Ndume expressed gratitude for the federal government's efforts to restore stable electricity, which he believes will significantly improve livelihoods, particularly in the informal sector.

He emphasized that stable electricity is crucial for economic activities and military operations against insurgents, urging federal and state authorities to safeguard the power infrastructure from further vandalism.
