NECO To Phase Out Paper-Pencil Exams From 2025, Lists Hall Requirements For CBT Exams

The National Examinations Council (NECO) has announced plans to phase out paper-pencil exams by 2025 in alignment with the Federal Government's directive. Starting from July, NECO will fully adopt Computer-Based Testing (CBT) for its examinations, with CBT centers playing a crucial role in the nationwide rollout.

Interested operators must meet strict technical and security standards to apply for registration, including having a minimum of 150 functional computers with specific specifications. NECO emphasized the importance of staff integrity and urged eligible CBT operators nationwide to apply for accreditation.

The transition to CBT is expected to enhance the credibility, efficiency, and global competitiveness of Nigeria's secondary school examinations. The council also listed mandatory hall requirements for CBT exams, such as adequate computer systems, network connectivity, security measures, and facilities like internal toilets and holding rooms.
