NECO Reduces English Exam Questions to 80 for SSCE: Streamlined Testing Experience

The National Examinations Council (NECO) has announced a reduction in the number of objective questions in the English Language Paper III of the Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (SSCE) from 100 to 80, starting from 2026. This change aims to streamline the examination process and enhance the testing experience for students.

The State Coordinator of Osun State, Sunday Bolaji, revealed the new paper structure, which includes six sections with a 50-minute allocated time for the examination. NECO's Chief Executive, Dantani Ibrahim Wushishi, emphasized the need for this adjustment to improve the examination system.

This reduction follows a previous landmark shift in the 2025 SSCE External examination.
