NEHCAF Decries Meager N36m Release from N218bn Health Allocation in Nigeria

The North East Health Awareness Forum (NEHCAF) has criticized the Nigerian government for releasing only N36 million out of the N218 billion allocated to the health sector, which is less than 0.02% of the total funds. NEHCAF, led by Abdullahi Ahmad and Ummu Kulsum Rabiu, has raised concerns about the lack of transparency in the fund disbursement process.

They highlighted the urgent need for a thorough investigation to ensure accountability. The group expressed disappointment over the disparity between the allocated funds and the actual release, describing the situation as worrisome.

Professor Moham Ali Pate, the Minister of Health and Social Welfare, was quoted acknowledging the alarm raised by NEHCAF. The forum urged relevant authorities, civil society organizations, and the media to collaborate in addressing the issues to enhance accountability in the healthcare sector.
