Nigerian Health Minister Reveals Only N36m Released Out of N218bn Health Budget

Health Minister Prof. Moham Ali Pate revealed during a budget defense session at the House of Representatives Committee on Healthcare Services that only N36 million out of the N218 billion capital budget for health in Nigeria has been released for the year.

The Ministry of Health is struggling to fully utilize the allocated funds due to challenges in accessing counterpart funds and delays in releases. This situation has led to a significant portion of the capital budget remaining unspent.

The Minister attributed the delays to unforeseen circumstances and the inability to access certain counterpart funds. These challenges have impacted the implementation of the 2025 capital budget in Nigeria's health sector, in line with the country's development plans and health strategies.
