NELFUND Initiates Payment of June, July Allowances

The Nigerian Education Loan Fund has commenced the payment of June and July upkeep allowances to student beneficiaries across Nigeria. This development was confirmed by the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), with several beneficiaries sharing screenshots on X showing successful payment alerts.

Akinteye Babatunde, the National President of NANS, announced the disbursement on Friday, stating that all outstanding backlogs would be addressed. He urged beneficiaries who had not yet received their allowances to remain patient, explaining that payments were being processed in batches.

Babatunde reassured students of NANS's commitment to their welfare, stating, “We remain committed to ensuring that no eligible Nigerian student is left behind.” The announcement follows weeks of complaints from students regarding delays in the payment of monthly upkeep allowances under the Federal Government’s student loan scheme. Beneficiaries have begun posting credit alerts confirming receipt of their allowances, which are part of the NELFUND student loan programme providing monthly financial support to eligible tertiary institution students.
