NELFUND Denies Suspension of Student Allowance Payments

The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) issued a statement on Thursday, categorically dismissing false reports that alleged the federal government had suspended student upkeep allowance payments under the student loan scheme. Oseyemi Oluwatuyi, the Director of Strategic Communications at NELFUND, described the misinformation circulating on social media as fabrications intended to mislead the public and create unnecessary panic among students and stakeholders.

NELFUND condemned the misleading reports, which included a fabricated statement falsely attributed to the organization and purportedly published by a newspaper. The fund stressed that there has been no official communication from the federal government regarding any suspension of the upkeep allowance.

NELFUND reaffirmed its commitment to continue disbursing student loans and urged the public to disregard the false reports, emphasizing the importance of relying on verified information from official channels. The organization remains dedicated to expanding access to higher education for Nigerian students.
