UNILAG Student Shares How NELFUND Saved His Education

Obinna Nichola, a 300-level Theatre Arts student at the University of Lagos (UNILAG), recounted his experience of nearly dropping out due to financial constraints. He described his family's struggles, having grown up in a poor household in Ebonyi State.

Nichola applied for the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) after facing a sharp increase in tuition fees and considering abandoning his education. He received a monthly stipend of 20,000 Naira, which helped him pay his school fees and manage his living expenses.

Nichola emphasized that the application process for the loan was straightforward and encouraged other students facing financial hardships to apply. He advised students whose parents can support their education not to apply unnecessarily for loans.

Nichola aims to complete his university education and uphold his family's legacy, as he is the last born in his family.
