NEMA Moves To Strengthen Disaster Mgt At Sub-national Level

NEMA is working to enhance disaster management at the sub-national level by engaging stakeholders to improve coordination and risk reduction. The agency, in collaboration with the World Bank Group and Ondo State Government, organized an Emergency Preparedness Response workshop in Akure.

Ondo State is one of seven states selected for the program due to its susceptibility to flooding. NEMA is actively working to mitigate the risk by issuing early warnings, conducting community drills, and assessing infrastructure.

The project aims to establish robust Emergency Preparedness Response structures in every local government, build capacity, and develop a comprehensive volunteer database. Stakeholders commended the state government for its proactive measures and emphasized the importance of collective efforts in disaster management.

The event highlighted the commitment of the Ondo State Government and various agencies to building a safer future for citizens.
